You can control many of those factors. As a licensed Acupuncturist and Fellow of the American Board of Reproductive Medicine, I’ve seen firsthand how acupuncture and Chinese herbs boost fertility potential. Let’s say you haven’t tried that yet, or you’re unsure about taking the plunge into Chinese medicine?
10 things you can do today to increase your chances of conception
Recognize that your body is essentially fertile and there is no such thing as infertility.
Cut dairy, gluten, soda, sugar, and processed foods from your diet. Load up on fresh fruits and vegetables.
Stop smoking and any recreational drug use. Plain and simple.
Dust off your yoga mat, lace up your running shoes and get your body moving. Try to exercise for 30 minutes 2-3 times per week.
Learn to manage your stress through meditation, exercise, counseling, acupuncture—whichever way fits your lifestyle.
Cut your hubby some slack. Timed intercourse can feel like a chore. You should do what feels natural. If you both want to have sex everyday during expected ovulation week, then go right ahead, but you don’t need to. But, abstinence for longer than five days can affect sperm quality adversely, so plan accordingly.
Know your cycle. Learn your fertile signs and combine that knowledge with other techniques, like a BBT chart or OPKs to nail down the ovulation day (we will call it “O” Day).
Hydration. Lots of hydration. One of the quickest ways to nourish your body is with water.
Take vitamins and supplements – but not everything under the sun. Try a couple that have been proven to enhance fertility, like a Vitamin B complex or Co-Q 10.
