Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine, or TCM, is a holistic approach to care that uses natural and/or minimally invasive mind-body practices such as acupuncture and herbal remedies to help restore and maintain the well-being of an individual. Since its discovery 3,000 years ago, billions of people have lived healthy lives thanks to these practices.

Traditional Chinese Medicine encourages and stimulates the body’s innate healing mechanisms.

It restores a healthy balance, which will restore bodily health, and is largely preventative in nature. TCM is an effective alternative to the potential side effects and long-term damage that can occur with conventional medicine. TCM and modern medicine should complement one another.

How does TCM work?

Traditional Chinese Medicine encourages and stimulates the body’s innate healing mechanisms. TCM has demonstrated a positive impact when the flow of qi is disrupted. Qi can be disrupted in many ways including: work or family stress, changes in the environment, sleep patterns, diet. Through the therapeutic methods implemented in TCM, qi balance can be restored, helping your body function as it is meant to.

Chinese Herbs

Chinese herbs are often used in conjunction with acupuncture for added therapeutic effects. While many cultures have herbal medicine traditions, the sophistication of Chinese herbal medicine is unsurpassed. Chinese herbal medicine has a long history reaching back several thousand years, and the resulting system is now used around the world.

Chinese herbs are safer and have fewer side effects than prescription medications.

There are thousands of herbs in the Chinese materia medica, of which about 300 are commonly used. You will generally receive a mixture of several different herbs in a formula that has been tailored to your condition.

Chinese herbs are safer and have fewer side effects than prescription medications. Side effects from Chinese herbs are rare, but the most common is digestive problems. Chinese herbs can also be taken to reduce the side effects of certain prescription medications. However, Adrienne evaluates on an individual basis if it is beneficial for a patient to take herbs along with prescription medications.

herbal treatments & FERTILITY

– Chinese herbal formulas may be prescribed prior to the start of fertility medications.

– Herbal formulas will be stopped once you begin your fertility medications. This is to minimize any interactions between them because there is little research about the effects of using herbal medicine with fertility medications.
